Way Back Wednesday – Careless Destruction
The Generous Wife
(Originally posted on April 21, 2019.)
As a part of my personal goals, I’m reading a chapter of Proverbs each day. I recently read this:
He who is careless in his work is a brother to him who destroys.
Proverb 18:9 AMP
I was really taken aback by this. I tend to give carelessness a pass. “Oh, they didn’t mean to do that. They just weren’t thinking, they got busy, or they weren’t paying attention. Don’t we all do that sometimes?”
And, yes, in our humanity we all get a bit careless now and then, but what I’m hearing in this scripture is an ongoing attitude of carelessness is just as damaging as being intentionally destructive.
That says to me that as a general attitude we need to be thoughtful and intentional about doing good in our marriages. Where am I being careless? Where am I letting things slide? What problems am I not paying attention to?
